2010 Tours

 

The Somme & Arras   8th – 10th April 2010 (ref TS0704) , 17th to 19th September 2010.

 The name The Somme resonates down the years. The memory of the terrible carnage of July 1916 still lives on today. Here at Blueyonder we are bikers with a real sense of history and we know lots of you are too! This short and easy tour through Northern France will take you along some excellent French rural D roads of the beautiful Pas de Calais countryside and in to the heart of the rolling Somme region where we will based for the next two nights in the historic and very attractive old town of Arras.

                                                                                                             The Day 1 meet up will take place in time to catch the 8.00am Eurotunnel service, after disembarking we will ride the terrific coast road passed the Caps to Boulogne before cutting inland to get to grips with rural France’s lovely open and rolling D roads which will offer something both to the French touring newcomer and expert alike. The last call of the day will be at Vimy Ridge before ending the ride in the beautiful and cosmopolitan Arras

 

 Day 2 see’s us following The Somme battlefield circuit de souvenir including the unmissable memorials of Beaumont Hamel, Thiepval and Lochnagar crater and the town of Albert, before ending the day with a return ride to Arras.

 Day 3 takes us on a great circuitous ride back to Eurotunnel at Calais for the late afternoon service through, what is a surprisingly beautiful part of France. This is a great introductory tour to France and what better way to start the new biking year? If you have a passion for history it’s a sure fire winner so make a note to join us on the first tour of 2010.

Wilderness Wales   30th April – 3rd May 2010       

            

A classic motorcycle tour of Mid and North Wales, taking in some of the best biking roads you will ever experience anywhere!  This is one tour every Biking enthusiast just has to do.  Mixing some of the UK’s most stunning scenery with a breathtaking and occasionally challenging mix of A, B and minor upland roads. All our roads are selected to generally avoid the usual busier routes followed most other road users, this combined with timings to avoid peak traffic volumes mean you can relax and enjoy one of the best biking experiences the UK has to offer. 

 Starting with a meet-up at our hotel in Monmouth on the Friday night, the wise cracks and fun will soon be in full flow. Saturday will see you covering over 200 miles, but as always with Blueyonder the well thought out and regular breaks for re-fuelling of you and your bike will mean you can enjoy yourself without feeling the strain. On Saturday we will overnight in Dolgellau which offers a great choice of places to eat and enjoy a well earned drink whilst you re-live the day’s exploits with your fellow Blueys.

 Sunday we roll-out early and just when you thought it couldn’t get any better it does! More of Blueyonder’s special mix of roads, scenery and sights (we don’t mind getting all touristy every now and then), takes us to places such as Devils Bridge and the stunning Elan Valley. The day ends with a fantastic run through the Wye valley and in to Chepstow, for a very well earned rest with all saying see you again soon to new and old friends on Monday morning.

Devon & Cornwall   30th May – 2nd June (ref DC3005) 13th to 16th August 2010

This new tour for 2010 is a great introduction to motorcycle touring. This carefully crafted motorcycle tour of North Devon and Cornwall will take you through some of the best motorbike riding to be found in southern England, wherever possible using the best and quietest A and rural B roads available.

Day 1 The tour starts with a  morning meet up at Winchester from where we will ride out via a mix B and A roads down through the counties of Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset and in to Devon. Our route will then take us north to Dunster, over Exmoor towards the North Devon Coast and to Bude which will be our base for the next two nights.

Day 2 features a ride out from Bude through Cornwall down to Lands End taking the northern coast roads and returning via the King Harry Ferry to the Roseland peninsular and Bodmin Moor.

Day 3 see’s the tour taking the high roads over Dartmoor with plenty of stops to admire the scenery, including the frighteningly austere Dartmoor Prison, as well as sampling the delights of the remote Warren Hill Inn and then on to south Dorset and concluding at Winchester with the final overnight halt.

Normandy & D-Day Beaches   23rd  – 26th July 2010

 Now established as a firm favourite amongst regular Blueys, this motorcycle tour of Normandy will take you through some of the best riding to be found in Northern France. Following the winning Blueyonder formula of riding some of the best and quietest rural D roads that Normandy has to offer. You will be grinning non-stop on roads that twist and turn, rise and fall, through beautiful countryside (see the gallery page), this tour also incorporates a day exploring the Normandy D-Day landing beaches.

The tour starts with a meet up at Portsmouth where we will take the overnight ferry to Le Havre. The day starts with a ride to breakfast as we wend our way south over the fantastic Pont de Normandie in to the undulating heartland of the Calvados and Orne departments of Normandie taking in historic country towns such as Vimoutiers, Domfront and Tinchebray, before a final ride through the Bocage to the wonderful and ancient town of Bayeux, which will be our base for the next two nights.

Day 2 will be a day for exploring the D-Day beaches where you will see first hand the historic sites such as Pegasus Bridge, Arromanches Mulberry Harbour and Omaha beach which was the scene of huge heroism and sacrifice by the American forces on 6th June 1944.

Day 3 features a ride out from Bayeux back to Le Havre through the idyllic countryside of the Suisse Normande on yet more awesome roads before catching the late afternoon ferry back to Portsmouth.

Ardennes & Eifel Mountains - September 2010 dates to be confirmed

 

An exciting new tour for 2010 featuring some great riding through the Belgian Ardennes “Battle of the Bulge” country and crossing in to Luxembourg and then into Germany and the Eifel Mountains and Mosel valley. This 5 day tour will include some fantastic roads, fascinating places and stunning scenery. Full details will be confirmed by March 2010, but make sure you pencil this into your diary now.

*Blueyondertours experience ratings explained     

To assist you to choose the best tour for you, all Blueyondertours are given an experience rating of either A, B or C.

 A rated tours : Tours rated as an A are designed for more experienced and confident riders and are more suitable for bikes of 600cc or over. They are generally less suitable for riding with a pillion passenger.

 B rated tours: Are as A above but are more suitable for bikes with a rider and a pillion.

 C rated tours:  Are suitable for all levels of experience (minimum of full unrestricted motorcycle licence) and any bike over 400cc            

Prices do not include costs of entrance to sites of interest or other attractions, any drinks or meals other than those specifically included in the tour details, road or bridge tolls any additional services provided by the hotel to the client outside the tour package.
