Barista and Bikes

Early one morning and somewhat unexpectedly, I came across an absolutely lovely place to call for a coffee while out on a motorcycle ride. A few of us were out for a pre-Christmas Sunday morning jaunt along some very scenic roads around the North Devon area, when we stumbled upon ‘Union Road Moto Velo’ in the lovely little town of Crediton. Members of the motorcycle section of our local ROSPA group often have ride outs in this area, and indeed I have driven and ridden straight past this place many times, so why I have not been in before still puzzles me.

Situated on the main road (Union Road) that runs through the centre of Crediton, it is extremely easy to find and very welcoming to bikers and non-bikers too. The tea, coffee and cakes were delicious and we consumed them while surrounded by bikes, biking gear, and a couple of local ladies just in for a coffee, all of which created a genuinely relaxed atmosphere. They have struck an excellent balance between the motorcycle world, and the trendy barista style coffee shop, and as such no one feels out of place. It is the kind of place you might go out of your way just to call in for a tea or coffee because there is something over and above the local tea rooms.

It is also useful to know somewhere that does bike sales, repairs, hire, parts, clothing, accessories and accommodation all under one roof. In fact they appear to do just about anything associated with bikes, so with something for everyone, it’s well worth a visit if you are ever out that way.

Not quite the travel distance of our usual tours, but definitely worth a visit. Check them out at https://unionroadmotovelo.com
